Soulfolk Experience Celebrates their 10th anniversary in October 2019. #SoulfolkTober

2019 marks 10 years that the Soulfolk Experience has been in existence! The group initially formed around solo performances by Maritri at NY’s live music venue the Cutting Room and smaller intimate acoustic shows under the banner One Mic Nite at the now-defunct West Village eatery Voyage. Encouraged by promoter/patron/actor Marcos Luis, Maritri invited every musical friend she knew to attend, and before long, a veritable who’s-who of legendary NYC performers assembled to wear that microphone out. Among the regular performers in the core group were: Jeni Fujita, Carla Duren, Annekei, Ganessa James, Kay Ashley, Shelley Nicole, Jeff Jeudy, Nick Cassarino, Luqmon Brown and Living Colour’s Corey Glover. Over time, the group whittled itself down to the current threesome, but strong ties remain with all who graced the stage in those days.
